A reported plane crash off the Jersey Shore Thursday morning that prompted a nearly two-hour search was later deemed unfounded, authorities told The Post.

Initial reports came in around 11:30 a.m. that the aircraft had gone down about a mile off the coast of Long Beach Island while carrying 20 passengers. But the account quickly changed to three people believed to be on board — and then officials searching for a wrecked glider.

The Coast Guard, New Jersey State Police and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office scrambled to get first responders out to search the waters and the National Transportation Safety Board was also tapped for details in the search.

But after two hours, Sheriff Michael Mastronardy told The Post the incident was unfounded and the search was called off.
