Imphal, June 15 2021: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West on Tuesday remanded 27 years old Khanchui Mangkung of Sorbung village to five days police custody for allegedly uploading sexually explicit contents in a Whatsapp group.

The accused Kanchui Mangkung, s/o (L) Jonathan of Sorbung village, Kamjong, presently staying at New Checkon was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West through video conferencing along with the prayer for remanding him to police custody for investigation of the case.

The IO of the case through APP submitted that the group which has three fireballs as logo and a seminude picture of a woman as profile was created on March 22, 2021 .

The group has about 225 members.

On inquiry, the admin of the group has been identified as Khanchui Mangkung of Sorbung Village.

An FIR has been registered against the accused under different sections, the IO added.

Saying that the accused was arrested from his New Checkon residence and the mobile phone used in commissioning the crime seized, the IO continued that he was requested to create the Whatsapp group by members of the Facebook page "Kanglei Imagi....nupising" (some letters are deleted for ethical reasons).

The CJM on perusal of the fact and material on record placed before the Court remanded the accused to 5 days police custody till June 19 .
