CHANDRAPUR: Accusing Congress state president Nana Patole of maligning the image of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its corporators in Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC), local city fathers have filed a complaint against him with Ramnagar police.
Complainant corporators have alleged that Patole, during his visit to Chandrapur on June 8, had given media statement claiming that some BJP corporators had approached him to hand over substantial evidence about Rs200 crore misappropriation in civic works.
“Patole claimed that BJP corporators had given him a memorandum about misappropriation in the party-ruled CMC. The news in this regard was reported in leading newspapers. However, Patole did not reveal names of BJP corporators who met him,” said the complainants.
A delegation of BJP leaders, including deputy mayor Rahul Pawade, standing committee chairman Ravi Sawani, leader of the house Sandeep Awari, and senior corporator Sanjay Kancharlawar met police station officer (PSO) of Ramnagar and submitted a written complaint.
They charged Patole of deceiving the people by making false claims about BJP corporators for political gains and defame the party.
Ramnagar PSO ratified receiving the complaint and said the matter is under investigation.
