SKODA AUTO India
has announced the commencement of KUSHAQ SUV production at the SKODA AUTO
Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) plant in Chakan, Pune. The new SUV has ample
space, design, comfort, and safety features.
SKODA has
specially adopted, MQB-A0-IN, a variant of the modular MQB -A0 platform, for
the Indian and global markets. The involvement of local manufacturing units and
the existing supplier base has been used to match the requirement of Indian
customers with the traditional SKODA qualities. A significant part of the
development has been carried out at the new technology centre located in Pune.
According to
Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director, SKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd, the
production rollout of the first car is a milestone for both SKODA AUTO and
Volkswagen Group in India. The team has been able to achieve localization up to
95% with the help of the manufacturing and engineering expertise of India.
KUSHAQ will be the fastest-growing segment of the automotive industry. He also
said that the company wants to offer unmatched performance, great design,
superior build quality, and outstanding solutions with the new model.

The name of the
mid-size SUV is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Kushak’ meaning king. The name
complements the powerful appearance of the car. The SUV comes with TSI engine
options, modern infotainment systems, striking design, high levels of comfort
and safety features. SKODA can respond
to the changing needs of the customers in a more flexible, targeted, and dynamic
manner.
