After FPJ reported about water logging raising a stink in a dargah near Mahul in Chembur last week, the BMC’s solid waste management team swung into action and began cleaning the nullahs in the area.
Last week, due to the heavy rains, water logging was reported at the dargah. The dargah trustees said that the BMC had not cleaned the nullahs in the area, due to which dirty water entered into their premises.
The trustees of Ghaswale baba dargah had dashed off a letter to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and BMC chief Iqbal Chahal, complaining that even the newly-constructed boundary wall around the nullah failed to stop the water from entering their premises.
After complaining to Prithviraj Chavan, M-west ward officer, he immediately sent his team to the site. “The BMC who visited the spot found that a 10 to 15-ft wide boundary wall was missing. Due to this, dirty water entered the compound. Work of the wall has begun,” said Jamal Hussain Khan, president of the dargah trust.
Meanwhile, several attempts were made to reach Chavan, but in vain.
