NOIDA: The Noida health department is planning to take the vaccination drive closer to people. It has decided to set up a
vaccine camp for every 2-3 sectors so that more people can be covered. The move is part of the UP government’s initiative to scale up vaccinations from July 1.
Officials are now conducting a survey to assess the requirements of the session sites that would be set up. In a recent article, TOI had quoted experts as saying that Noida should set up more vaccine centres for different age groups and reach out to the maximum number of people.
“Our teams have been going out to survey and assess the need for vaccination centres in various sectors. We already have rural session sites. We will now set up similar centres in residential sectors,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, the district immunisation officer.
There are a total of eight rural centres in Noida — two in each of the four blocks. Each block has been given a target of vaccinating 1,600 people, making it a total of 6,400 inoculations daily.
Officials said they were planning to set up one
centre for every two-three sectors on similar lines. These sites are expected to come up in a common area, such as a community centre or a primary school. The daily targets will also be increased, the officials said.
Health officials will also start vaccinations in 15 urban villages from Thursday. “The CMO will identify 15 such villages where vaccination will start from Thursday for groups like vendors, domestic staffers, delivery boys and service repairmen,” said Suhas LY, the district magistrate.
The centres will function depending on the availability of vials and till the demand starts tapering. “Currently, we have sufficient vaccines for our ongoing drives. We will get to know about the next allotment in a couple of days,” the DM said.
Suhas LY said walk-in vaccinations for the 18+ category could also be started, depending on the stock of vials.
Officials expect the district’s allotment of vaccines to increase after June 21. Private vaccine centres will also be ramped up as more permissions are being given to private hospitals.
