June 16 (Renewables Now) – GE Renewable Energy announced today it has been picked by Continuum Green Energy India Pvt Ltd to equip with turbines a 148.5-MW wind project in the Indian state of Gujarat.
The renewable energy arm of General Electric (NYSE:GE) will supply 55 units of its 2.7-132 onshore wind turbines for the Morjar, Bhuj project. The contract also includes a long-term full-service agreement.
Once up and running, the new wind park is expected to generate enough power to meet the demand of 125,000 local homes. The output will be delivered to Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA), Continuum Green Energy CEO, Arvind Bansal, noted.
The company secured the scheme during the tranche-VI auction of wind projects held by SECI, the press release states.
Majority-owned by a global infrastructure fund managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP), the India-focused renewable energy platform has a portfolio of over 1 GW of operating and under-construction capacity.
