Shocking video footage shows a Ukrainian man casually lobbing a grenade during a street fight — injuring five people in the explosion, according to reports and local police.
The footage, shared by the Sun, shows someone punching a man outside a store in Ukraine’s second-largest city of Kharkiv as a small group gathers around.
As a second blow knocks off the man’s cap, he pulls something from his pocket — then nonchalantly tosses it after regaining his footing following the punch.
Seemingly aware of what just happened, the footage goes haywire as the group attempt to flee — with a loud explosion then setting off car alarms, as some shout at the attacker.
The National Police of Ukraine confirmed that a 29-year-old man “threw an RGD-5 grenade” during “a conflict” on Tuesday last week.

“The grenade blast injured five people between the ages of 16 and 33. All the victims with shrapnel wounds were taken to medical facilities in Kharkiv,” the force said, without elaborating on how serious the injuries were.
The grenade-throwing suspect was arrested on charges of illegally handling weapons, ammunition or explosives. If convicted, he faces between 10 years and life in prison, police said.
The alleged overreaction to getting punched sparked shocked responses on social media, the Sun noted.

“Everyone has a plan until a grenade is pulled out,” one person quipped, according to the UK paper, in a play on the famous Mike Tyson quote about getting punched in the mouth.
Another reportedly posted, “Two guys argue in the UK: pulls a knife. Two guys argue in America: pulls a gun. Two guys argue in Eastern Europe: pulls a grenade.”
