LC-M coach Eric Peevey named to DCTF 40 Under 40 list

Heading into a new season with a new team, Little-Cypress Mauriceville head football coach Eric Peevey has been recognized as one of the best young leaders in Texas football.

Peevey, who left West Brook in February to become the Bears’ athletic director, on Wednesday was named to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 40 Under 40 coaches list. It’s the third straight year Peevey has made the list, which included 10 college coaches and 30 high school coaches.

Peevey was the only Southeast Texas coach to be selected.

An Orange County native, Peevey arrives at LC-M after enjoying four successful seasons at West Brook. He took over the Bruins full-time in 2017 at 32 years old. Two seasons later, West Brook went to the Class 6A-II state championship game.

Peevey went 33-15 as head coach at West Brook.

Now, he’s tasked with turning around an LC-M team that hasn’t had much success as of late. The Bears went 1-7 overall in 2020, and longtime coach Randy Crouch resigned at the end of the school year.

With Peevey at the helm, LC-M will start the 2021 season against Hamshire-Fannett on Aug. 27.
