More evidence gathered in Tas murder probe
Forensic investigations have gathered further evidence at a quiet street in northern Tasmania where a young woman was found dead with stab wounds inside her friend's home.
A man remains in police custody after the discovery of the 23-year-old's body at an address in Ulverstone in the early hours of Tuesday.
Investigators are treating her death as a suspected murder and are expecting to lay charges on Wednesday.
The man was arrested on Tuesday at a house in the same street as scene of the crime.
Police have continued to gather evidence from both properties and have blocked off an area in between the houses.
The woman had travelled from Queensland to visit her friend and had been in Tasmania for a few weeks.
Her body was found by officers after her friend called triple zero to report a man "prowling" in the house, police have said.
Police say she suffered knife wounds "consistent with being murdered". There is no known link between the woman and the man.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.
