    Pre-Fed jitters keep Dow Jones, S&P500 below record highs

    The S&P 500 and Dow Jones opened below record highs on Wednesday, with investors on edge before potential hints from the Federal Reserve on when it would taper its massive monetary stimulus.

    The S&P 500 opened lower by 1.28 points, or 0.07%, at 4,245.00, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 33.69 points, or 0.24%, to 14,106.27 at the opening bell.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 46.15 points, or 0.14%, at the open to 34,252.88.
