SJTA to issue SOP for conducting Snan Purnima of trinity of Sri Jagannath temple

Puri, Jun 16 (UNI) Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will soon issue the standard operating procedure to conduct the snana purnima rituals of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.
SJTA chief administrator Dr Krishan Kumar on Wednesday held discussions with Daita servitors over conducting snan purnima ritual of lord Jagannath scheduled for June 24 next.
The servitors have agreed to render their services adhering to Covid protocols as they did last year, Dr Kumar told the media persons.
A meeting with Chhatisha nijog, the apex body of temple servitors, will be held soon and a detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) will be issued, he said.
Meanwhile, the carpentry work to replace the wornout temple doors with new ones has commenced.
At least 15 expert carpenters are working on these doors on Burma teak. Thereafter silver plating of doors will be taken up. All these works will be executed in line with traditional temple art, SJTA Chief said.
A Mumbai based devotee has donated 1345 kg of silver for the silver coating of these doors.
Once the woodwork is completed permission will be sought from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for silver coating.
The existing lighting system of the entire temple complex will also be revamped, Dr Kumar said.
