Arsenal will be Brentford's first top-flight opponents in an otherwise tough start for the Gunners after the Premier League fixtures for the new season were revealed on Wednesday morning.
Mikel Arteta's side host Chelsea in the second week of action before travelling to champions Manchester City in a tricky opening period before the first international break.
The north London derbies against Tottenham are pencilled in for September 25 at home and January 15 away, while Arsenal conclude the season by hosting Everton in what is a relatively kind run-in.

But Arteta and his side open up at the Bees on August 14 - who won promotion to the top-flight for the first time with victory in the Championship play-off final against Swansea last month - in what will be a celebratory occasion at the Brentford Community Stadium.
They then host Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea - the newly-crowned European champions - in their first home match, whom they did the double over last season.
Their third match is at runaway 2019-20 champions City, where they have not won since 2015.
After the first international break in September, they host Norwich, travel to Burnley, and host Tottenham to make-up their first six matches.
A tricky period comes up at the end of November where they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool, host Newcastle, then face Manchester United at Old Trafford and Everton at Goodison Park.

Boxing Day is set to see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Co face Norwich at Carrow Road, before they host Wolves two days later and Man City on New Years Day.
For their tough start though, the Gunners have something of a kind run-in, with a home clash against Man Utd on April 23 - in what is scheduled to be their 34th match of a 38-game season - their final game against a fellow top-six side.
They then face West Ham at the London Stadium, before concluding their campaign by hosting Leeds, travelling to Newcastle and playing host to Everton.
