AMBALA: A 37-year-old man was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants near Hathi Khana temple in Ambala Cantonment in Haryana on Tuesday.
The assailants pumped eights bullets into Divakar alias Jeetu (37), who reportedly ran a dairy business.
On the complaint of Divakar's sister Hans Kumari, the police have registered a case against nine accused identified as Saurabh alias Mau, Arjun alias Ajju, Shammi Pandit, Sonu alias Gajju, Monu Dagar, Aman Pappu, Arjit, Splendour Singh, and Randhir.
All nine accused have been booked under Section 302 (punishment for murder), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25 of the Arms Act at Ambala Cantonment police station on Tuesday.
In her police complaint, Hans Kumari alleged that about 7.30am, Divakar had gone to tie the cows near Hathi Khana temple.
"Our worker Kapil told me that Divakar has been shot by two motorcycle-borne youths and he is lying on road near the temple. I along with my brother Jitender reached the spot and saw Divakar was lying in a pool of blood. We took him to the civil hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The incident took place at about 7.50 am", said Hans.
"In December 2019, Mau, Randhir, Shammi Pandit, Sonu alias Gajju, Monu Dagar, Aman Pappu and Splendour Singh had attacked my brother and opened fire at him. Today, the same men murdered my brother following an old rivalry," she alleged.
"The accused who shot Divakar have been identified as Saurabh 'Mau' and Arjun 'Ajju'. A case has been registered against nine accused. Teams have been formed to nab all the accused," deputy superintendent of police Ram Kumar said.
