Telangana Minister presents Rs 5 lakh to Tokyo-bound Sai Praneeth

Hyderbad, Jun 15 (UNI) Telangana Sports Minister V Srinivas Gound on Tuesday presented a Rs 5 lakh cheque as an incentive to Indian shuttler Sai Praneeth, who has qualified for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Goud said after formation of the state, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has given many incentives for the development of sports in the state and for the creation of sports facilities.
As part of incentives, the state government has extended Rs 25.87 crore to the sports players and Rs 9 crore towards sports associations, the Minister said in a release here.

To promote sports and make Telangana as a sports hub, the Chief Minister constituted a cabinet sub-committee, the states sports minister said.
Based on the committee reports, the government is to formulate the best sports policy in the country for the development of sports in the state, he added.
The Minister said that the state government was also implementing reservations of 0.5 per cent in higher education and 2 per cent in jobs for sportsmen.
