The decision has been taken in a review meeting chaired by Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh with cabinet ministers and officials regarding the situation in the state.
The period of lockdown in Punjab was ending today. CM Captain Amarinder Singh has announced exemptions from many restrictions while continuing the night curfew. Restaurants, dhabas, cinema halls, gyms etc. will be allowed to open with 50% capacity from tomorrow in the state. AC buses will also run with 50% capacity. Bars/clubs/premises will remain closed. The number of persons in weddings/cremations will be limited to 50. The Captain Government has decided to continue the night curfew from 8 pm to 5 am every day. Along with this, a weekend curfew will also be imposed from 8 pm on Saturday to 5 am on Monday.
However, places like bars, clubs and courtyards will remain closed in the state.
CM also directed the health officials to start inoculation of teachers, non-teaching staff and students in the age group of 18-45 from all schools and colleges from June 21 to safely open educational institutions in the state.
Punjab received 622 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours pushing the total cases tally to 588,525, while 40 patients died in the same time.
