Disneyland Mask Policy Updated As California Reopens
California's Disneyland Resort has announced an updated mask policy in effect from June 15, coinciding with the state's reopening.
From Tuesday, fully vaccinated guests will no longer be required to wear a face covering, both indoors and outdoors. However, visitors aged two and older who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks indoors, except when dining, Disneyland advises.
When Disneyland's Toy Story parking lot opens on June 18, all guests aged two and older, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear an "appropriate face covering" while traveling on bus transportation from the lot to the park, the company said.
Disneyland will also welcome visitors from outside California from June 15 and on-site temperature checks will no longer be required from this time.
Disneyland said: "The state has removed the physical distancing requirements with respect to guests, so we will allow guests to self-determine distancing."
Visitors will not be required to provide proof of vaccination but "must self-attest that they are in compliance prior to entry," the resort said.
In addition, the company said that "all guests will need to attest that they are aware" of the state's "strong recommendation that guests be fully vaccinated or receive a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering the theme parks" when making their theme park reservations.
Disneyland also advised: "Park admissions and offerings are not guaranteed."
Certain facilities, such as parks, hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings, "may be modified or unavailable, have limited capacity and are subject to limited availability or even closure," the company warned.
The resort noted: "As always, our procedures may change as we continue to update our health and safety processes based on guidance from the state of California and local health officials."
Disneyland's latest announcement comes as the state gears up for a full reopening on June 15, which will see restrictions eased for most businesses and activities across California.
Florida's Disney World resort also announced face coverings are "now optional in most areas" for all vaccinated guests.
The Associated Press reported Disney World's updated mask policy also went into effect on June 15.
Disney World stated: "While we do not require proof of vaccination, we expect guests who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations and upon entering and throughout all attractions and transportation."
Masks are still required for all visitors traveling on Disney buses, the Disney monorail system and the Disney Skyliner (an aerial gondola ride), the company said.
Disney World advised: "Based on recent trends and guidance, Walt Disney World Resort will be making more adjustments to these measures, including physical distancing and face coverings."
