Nifty FMCG stocks advance over 200 points; Marico hits new 52-week high

Varun Beverages, Colgate Palmolive, and United Spirits also advanced over 1% to lift the sectorial performance.

Nifty FMCG stocks outperformed by over 200 points amid bullish markets on Tuesday. Marico led the gains by hitting record high on Tuesday, while Varun Beverages, Colgate Palmolive and United Spirits advanced over 1% to lift the sectorial performance.

Jubilant FoodWorks was also trading higher ahead of the quarterly earnings announcement on Tuesday. Emami was the biggest laggard in the sector.

At around 2.05 PM, Nifty FMCG was trading at 35,877.55 up 217.60 points or 0.61%, touching a high of 35,905.45 during intraday trade on Tuesday. BSE Sensex was trading 306.95 higher or 0.58% at 52,858.48 and Nifty50 was up 84.45 points or 0.53% at 15,896.30.

Marico hit fresh 52-week high of Rs511.55per piece during intraday trade on Tuesday. Its stock was trading 2.2% higher at Rs505.95 per piece. VBL (up 1.33%), Colgate Palmolive (1.16%) and United Spirits (up 1.14%) also marched ahead to add to the sectorial gains.

Hindutan Unilever, Godrej Consumer, Tata Consumer, Dabur India, Britannia were trading higher in the rabge of 0.9% to 0.6%. 

Jubilant Foodworks advanced 0.55% while Nestle India was also trading over 0.5%. Procter & Gamble Hygiene and UBL were also trading higher. 

Emami was down 0.36% while ITC also was trading marginally lower.
