Women are now proudly rubbing shoulders with the men. But still that doesn't stop some people from discrediting women of their achievements. Be it a corporate office or film industry, making a place for themselves in the male-dominated industries has never been easy. Now, the 'Manmarziyaan' and 'Kedarnath' writer Kanika Dhillon has reacted to the 'Jai Mummy Di' writer Navjot Gulati for his comment that her prominent billing in the film's trailer has come as a result of her marrying a close ally of the producer, Aanand L Rai. Kanika is married to screenwriter Himanshu Sharma. Kanika said, 'Well, you must have read my tweet against him. But yes, since you ask, I have more to say. When asked what if Kanika bumps into Navjyot at some function, she replied saying, 'When I meet him I will say ‘I hope you and others like you learnt your lesson and before passing a sexist remark to any other woman, you will now think twice because women are now going to fight back. If you whistle or catcall, you will be slapped. If you ridicule their work, you will be called out. Letting go is not an option.' When asked if she get requests from heroes that she should pen scripts in such a way that they have as much screen space as the heroine. Kanika responded, 'In fact, I was fortunate to work with heroes like Abhishek Bachchan who completely respected and supported my voice as a writer in 'Manmarziyaan'. He set an example of how heroes should be when the camera is off in every way and set a tall benchmark. Recently, Vikrant Massey has voiced his support for writers and hence with these mind-sets, haggling for longer roles is out of question.' Kanika concluded saying, 'We just need to teach our daughters to speak up. Every time, they need to! The culture of silence is one of the biggest reasons for misogyny and sexism to prevail. Speak up and shame them as loud as you can! So next time, they will think twice before uttering any sexist slur to any woman.'
