Fox Reporter Ivory Hecker's Outburst Against TV Station Live on Air Viewed Over 2M Times

Footage of a local Fox News reporter claiming live on air that the network has been "muzzling" her has been viewed more than 2 million times, as she prepares to do an interview sharing her story.

Ivory Hecker, a reporter for Houston Fox 26 in Texas, announced during what was supposed to be a live segment about a heatwave that she will share on Tuesday secret recordings from within the network via the right-wing activist group Project Veritas.

"I want to let you, the viewers, know that Fox Corp has been muzzling me to keep certain information from you, the viewers," Hecker said live on air on Monday.

"And from what I'm gathering I am not the only reporter being subjected to this. I am going to be releasing some recordings about what goes on behind the scenes at Fox because it applies to you, the viewers.

"I found a non-profit journalism group called Project Veritas who's going to help put that out tomorrow. So, tune into them."

After Hecker made the claims on Monday, the footage was shared by several media commentators and news sites, so far amassing a total of more than 2.2 million views.

Project Veritas is known for releasing covert recordings of media workers that the group says show evidence of left-wing bias in journalism. Its critics accuse Project Veritas of deceptive editing in videos it has shared in the past.

The group released footage in 2020 that showed CNN employee Charlie Chester suggesting former President Donald Trump may have lost November's election because of the network's coverage.

Hecker did not reveal any information about the purported secret recordings, but the footage will be aired by Project Veritas.

In a statement to Newsweek for a previous story, Hecker claimed that after she interviewed an unspecified person in August 2020, her relationship with Fox took a "dark turn."

"They decided they didn't like what the interview subject had said, and they went on to internally harass and defame me," Hecker said.

"I knew I was not working for a journalistic organization when I was called into an HR meeting in December and was told to keep my support for free speech and opposition to censorship to myself—that those were not matters to be publicly spoken about."

A Project Veritas spokesperson confirmed to Newsweek that it will release a one-on-one interview with Hecker on Tuesday night along with the recordings she claimed to have.
