A cleaner has revealed an incredible bathroom transformation and says when it comes to cutting through thick grime a $3 grout brush from Woolworths is a must.

The before picture shows disgusting brown grout and a thick layer of soap scum and dirt.

The after photo looks like a brand new bathroom, with shining white marbles tiles on the walls and crisp charcoal tiles under foot.

The woman posted the photos and said she was 'pretty proud' of how the dirty bathroom scrubbed up and thousands of people agreed she did well.

Some labelled the clean-up the best shower transformation they had ever seen.

'I am a full time cleaner and this is very impressive,' one woman said.

'Amazing job, it looks brand new,' another said.

After the post went viral the cleaner explained exactly what she did to make the tiles shine and said it came down to a lot of scrubbing.

'Took me a good hour just to do the shower alone,' she said.

She said she went straight to the shower when she started the clean, spraying it with '30 second shower cleaner'.

She then sprayed calcium, lime and rust remover all over the glass before leaving the room for an hour.

She then repeated the process, leaving it for another hour.

She then scrubbed with her $3 brush and Domestos, for about an hour.

After that she sprayed the whole thing with a shower restorer before leaving it for ten minutes and then lightly scrubbing with a scourer.

She then rinsed it all with hot water.

'I absolutely swear by a grout brush for scrubbing anything. You should have seen the stovetop,' she said.

People couldn't believe the state of the bathroom in the original picture.

'That before picture is absolutely putrid. I can’t believe some people let it get that severe,' one woman said.

'I think you’d come out dirtier than when they entered. I wonder if it was ever cleaned the entire time they were there. And whatever you were paid certainly wasn’t enough,' one woman said.

While another added: 'I’m just wondering who would put their bare foot in that to shower.'

But others said there could be many reasons for a home looking like that, including a lack of support for people struggling with poor mental health.
