ANALYSIS/OPINION:
Black Africans were rounded up by other Black Africans and Arab Muslims and transported under poor conditions to the United States by Europeans, then sold as slaves. Over hundreds of years many people suffered the horrible effects of slavery. Today we hear that all Whites are guilty and there is systemic racism in our society.
These false narratives are used in our school systems to indoctrinate our young, vulnerable children. The truth, however, is that it was a majority of White men and women who over the years ended the prejudiced Southern Democrats’ racist policies. It was under Republican President Abraham Lincoln that the Civil War freed the slaves. White Republicans ended the Democrats’ post-war segregationist policies and played a major role in pushing through the Civil Rights Act (which was opposed by the Democrats).
Over many years integration in all areas, including the acceptance of interracial marriage, has made our country stronger. There is no question that there are still racists in this country, as well as anti-Semites, anti-Christians and anti-Muslims. There is and always will be such people.
But we need to end the narrative and indoctriation of critical race theory and make it a priority to have all our citizens respect each other and stand firm on equal justice for all.
