TV Choice Awards 2021: Coronation Street dominates this year's soap nominations with five nods while BBC drama Line Of Duty is shortlisted in four categories

Coronation Street and Line Of Duty lead this year's nominations for the 2021 TV Choice Awards.
The ITV soap is a front runner with five nominations, while BBC's Line Of Duty comes a close second with four nods.
Four Coronation Street stars are up for personal accolades, and the programme itself will do battle with fellow heavyweights EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks for the coveted Best Soap prize.

Line of Duty's gripping series six, meanwhile, is up for Best Drama Series, and the programme's three main stars, Martin Compston, Vicky McClure, and Adrian Dunbar are in contention for personal glory.
Martin with battle with Adrian in the Best Actor category - and the pair tare up against tough competition with It's A Sin's Olly Alexander and Bridgerton's Rege-Jean Page also nominated.
Vicky is up for the Best Actress accolade, but will go up against The Crown's Olivia Colman, Bridgerton's Phoebe Dyvenor and Unforgotten's Nicola Walker.

Line of Duty - created by Jed Mercurio - will also have to overcome Unforgotten, The Crown and Death in Paradise if the show is to win Best Drama Series.
Corrie's Shelley King is up for the Best Soap Actress accolade, after her character Yasmeen Metcalfe was subjected to months of abuse at the hands of her evil husband Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) until his death.
She will face competition from fellow cobbles star Sally Carman, whose alter-ego Abi Franklin was recently left devastated when her son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) was beaten to death.
The pair are up against Emmerdale's Isobel Steele (Liv Flaherty), and 'EastEnders' actress Kellie Bright (Linda Carter), whose on-screen husband Danny Dyer (Mick Carter) has a nod in the Best Soap Actor category.
The Football Factory star is up against Emmerdale's Bradley Johnson (Vinny Dingle) and 'Corrie' duo Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow) and David Neilson, whose character Roy Cropper's niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) was also attacked by the thugs who killed Seb, but she survived.

Corrie's quintet of nods comes after the show won Best Soap/ Continuing Drama at the Broadcast Awards last month, triumphing over rivals Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, and Casualty.
As well as nods for Rege-Jean and Phoebe, Netflix sensation Bridgerton is nominated for Best New Drama alongside It's A Sin, The Queen's Gambit, and All Creatures Great and Small.
The Best Family Drama category features two nods for Disney+ shows, The Mandalorian and WandaVision, despite the service only launching 18 months ago.
They are up against medical dramas Casualty and Call the Midwife.

Other TV Choice Awards nods include Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Gogglebox/ Celebrity Gogglebox, The Graham Norton Show, and Taskmaster in the Best Entertainment Show category.
What's more, Dawn French's return as Geraldine Granger for The Vicar of Dibley in Lockdown has been recognised.
The sitcom will do battle with Not Going Out, Ghosts and Family Guy for Best Comedy.

Rob Beckett will host this year's virtual ceremony, which will be the 25th TV Choice Awards, on September 6th.
Shortlist voting is open from Tuesday until midnight on June 25th.
