Retired police officer arrested for firing at his two sons

Thane, Jun 14 (UNI) The Rabale police in Navi Mumbai arrested a retired police officer, from Navi Mumbai police for allegedly firing at his two sons one of whom is seriously injured and being treated at a hospital in Navi Mumbai the police said.

The police said that an offence under section 307 of the IPC and Arms Act has been registered against the alleged accused identified as Bhagwan Patil, 70 and seized his service revolver with which he fired three rounds.

The retired officer stayed with one of his three sons at Airoli while the two others stayed separately and there used to be frequent quarrels between them over domestic issues.

Today he had called his two sons home for discussing certain issue and there was a wordy duel between the father and the two sons who had come home. The accused pulled out the revolver and fired at them in which Vijay, 34, was badly injured while the other one Sujay, 32 also received injuries the police said.

The police also said that investigations revealed that the accused was under the influence of liquor at the time of incident.

The actual motivation behind the incident is still to be ascertained by the police.

After the incident which took place at around 6.30 p.m. the elder son who suffered two bullet wounds was rushed to a local hospital where he is being presently treated it was stated.
