JORHAT, June 15: All police stations in Assam have been alerted in the wake of the escape of four children who ran away from a children’s rescue home run by a Nagaon based NGO, Shankar Madhab Krishti Bikash Kendra at Choladhara.
Padmadhar Kalita, the investigating officer said that two boys both 10 years belonged to Mokokchung in Nagaland and two others , one 12 and the other 13, both from Assam had run away on Sunday early morning at 6.45 am after removing the grill of a window in a dilapidated condition.
Kalita said that the complaint had been lodged by the Superintendent of the Home, Tukumoni Dutta.
Kalita said that one of the older boys had earlier also run away several times as told by Dutta and had been caught and brought back every time.
The 10 year olds had been rescued while working as child labour.
Kalita said that he had alerted all the police stations to keep a watch on the boys.
A case No: 1348/2021 under section 363 IPC has been registered in Jorhat Police Station.
