Northern Ireland industrial cleaning company Amber Support Solutions has been acquired by Irish business Bidvest Noonan for an undisclosed sum .
mber, which is based at Duncrue Street in Belfast, was set up in 2010 and has clients in the public, corporate, manufacturing, retail and commercial sectors.
The business, which employs about 10 people, offers services ranging from window to carpet cleaning. It’s understood clients include discount grocer Lidl and Ulster University.
Bidvest Noonan, which is based in Swords, Co Dublin, has appointed Amber boss Scott Brannigan as managing director of Bidvest Noonan, NI.
The Amber business will continue to operate under the Amber brand within the group, which employs a total of 1,500 people here – making it one of Northern Ireland’s biggest facility services companies.
Bidvest Noonan is the market leader for security and cleaning services on the island of Ireland, and also has an engineering services business.
The group has turnover of more than £700m (€815m) and employs over 27,000 people in locations around the UK and Ireland.
In the year to 31 March, 2020, Amber Support Solutions had net assets of £1m, which was up from just under £669,000 a year earlier.
Its cash at bank and in hand also grew from £86,493 to £560,501 over the same period.
Bidvest Noonan chief executive Declan Doyle said: “Scott’s appointment as managing director for Northern Ireland demonstrates our commitment to the Northern Irish market, and to our focus on enhancing the services we provide to our NI customers, through ongoing investment in our people, services and capabilities in the region.
“Amber is a great business. It has an outstanding team and a strong brand and a reputation for high-standards and excellent customer service.
“We look forward to working with them to build on their achievements to date.”
Mr Brannigan said the investment from Bidvest Noonan would give the business the support to grow in Northern Ireland.
“I really look forward to working with my team, new Bidvest Noonan colleagues in Northern Ireland and the wider team in the future to continue providing clients with the high standards of service for which we are known.
“We believe that working together we can both cement Bidvest Noonan’s position as market leader for facility services in Northern Ireland and Amber’s position as market leader for industrial services.
“This is great news and I know that this partnership will deliver increased value and support for clients,” he added.
The Amber acquisition is the latest major deal for Bidvest Noonan.
It has also acquired Cordant Services, which provides security and cleaning to companies, as well as Axis Group, which provides front-of-house services as well as security and cleaning.
Bidvest Noonan bought Ancove, a specialist Irish waste management business, earlier this year.
