Puducherry, Jun 15 (UNI) Mr R Selvam, the BJP MLA elected from Manavely Constituency will be declared elected as the Speaker of the Puducherry legislative assembly 'unopposed' on Wednesday.
He is the lone candidate who filed nomination papers for the Speaker post when the filing of nominations came to a close at 1200 hours on Tuesday.
Even after sorting out the power struggle between the N R Congress and BJP, the expansion of the Rangaswamy Cabinet is likely to be delayed further.
Speculations are rife that the Cabinet will be expanded tomorrow evening after the Speaker election in the morning.
However, the list of Ministers was yet to be submitted to Lt.Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is presently in Hyderabad, as she was also the Governor of Telangana.
No preparatory works for the swearing-in of the Ministers were made so far.
After getting the list of Ministers, the Lt Governor will have to send it to the Union Home Ministry for approval and after that only the swearing-in could be possible.
Now it is learnt that the Cabinet Expansion will take place on June 21.
