39 test positive in two day mass testing drive

Ukhrul, June 14 2021:
In line with the course of action take up in other districts of the State and in view of the surging Covid cases, Ukhrul District Hospital in tandem with the district administration started a mass testing campaign since yesterday and in the last 48 hours, 39 persons returned positive results.
The 39 positive results came from the samples of 719 persons tested in two days.
This works out to 5.4 percent positivity rate.
The mass testing drive was conducted at five locations in Ukhrul town and Litan.
On Sunday, mass testing was carried out at Seipet Ramlung locality where 441 persons were tested.
Out of this 26 persons returned positive results.
On the second day, that is today, out of 250 persons tested, 13 were found positive.
The test was conducted at three different locations of Ukhrul town.
Among the 13 persons found positive, 6 persons were found positive at Viewland, 2 at Jessami junction and 5 at Ava Market, Phungreitang.
The District Magistrate has subsequently put the nearby areas under containment zone.
At Litan, 28 persons were tested and all were found negative.
According to Ukhrul District Hospital (UDH) total cumulative positive cases at Ukhrul district has climbed to 472, with total active cases at 64.14 persons have been referred to UDH isolation centre for further treatment.
So far, Covid has claimed 19 lives in Ukhrul district.
