IndiGo ATR tyre bursts on landing in Hubli; all onboard safe

NEW DELHI: An IndiGo ATR with about 10 people on on board had a tyre burst while landing at Hubli on Monday evening. The aircraft (VT-IYX) was operating as 6E-7979 from Kannur to Hubli. Confirming the tyre burst on arrival, an IndiGo spokesperson said: “All passengers and crew are safe. Aircraft is currently under maintenance maintenance checks at Hubli.”
The 78-seater turboprop had just five passengers on board. The destination was witnessing rains and strong winds at the time of approach.
The ATR did a go-around in the first approach and anded in the second attempt when the tyre burst happened. It came to a halt on the runway and had to be removed from there.
The DGCA is probing this incident.
