PM continues to torture people: Nupi Marup

Imphal, June 14 2021: Denouncing the rising prices of petrol and diesel in the country, All Manipur Nupi Marup has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that he continues to torture his own people.

In a release, Nupi Marup secretary L Sumatibala ridiculed the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for hiking price of petrol and diesel amidst the trying times of Covid-19 pandemic so that corporate owners of petroleum products, who helped the BJP in forming the government, could make huge profit from the people.

Such act of increasing fuel price is akin to daylight robbery of the hard-earned money of the laymen and middle-class people of the country, she contended.

As the onset of Covid-19 second wave in the country has led to upsurge in Covid-19 positivity and fatality rate in the country leading to implementation of lockdown and curfew, the selling capacity of fuel has also decreased, Sumatibala noted, while pointing out that the price of petrol has been increased for the 22nd time from May 4 to June 14 thus hitting Rs 104 per litre at present.

Such act which is for the welfare of only few corporate owners will also trigger price rise of edibles and other essential items.

She further stated that the Nupi Marup will support the nationwide protest to be staged from June 16 to 30 by left parties if BJP government fails to review the fuel price.
