CHANDIGARH: A high-level committee headed by
Haryana director general of police (DGP) Manoj Yadava has indicted nine police officer, including IPS officer Pankaj Nain in connection with the breach in security of chief minister
Manohar Lal Khattar during the concluding sitting of the budget session in the assembly.
The DGP handed over the committee's report to assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta on Tuesday.
According to report the departmental action has been recommended against all those indicted .
Barring Pankaj Nain, who is currently heading the department of sports and youth welfare, eight officers have been served the show cause notice, the probe report stated.
The DGP has further clarified that as reply of the preliminary notice served to Nain has been awaited, hence he could not be issued the show cause notice.
Meanwhile, speaker Gian Chand Gupta has given deadline of June 18 for submission of the action taken report against all those indicted in the incident.
Notably, the incident took place during the budget session when CM Khattar was addressing the media persons in the parking area of the assembly premises.
Punjab MLAs
Bikram Singh Majithia, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Baldev Singh Khaira, Sukhwinder Kumar, Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra, Kanwaljit Singh Barkandi, Manpreet Singh Ayali, Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Narinder Kumar Sharma and others allegedly confronted Khattar in the parking area.
Consequently, the speaker had summoned the officers from Punjab Haryana and Chandigarh and ordered high-level in addition to registration of case against MLAs.
A case has been registered at Police Station North, in Sector 3 in Chandigarh, under sections 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of duties), 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (assault) and 511 (an try to do crime) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Meanwhile, the state government too ordered a high-level probe to see security lapses by the police.
It is alleged that intelligence wing had alerted the cops about plans of Punjab MLAs but they did not reach in time. Pankaj Nain was in-charge of the parking area.
