If there’s one person who knows her way around a maternity-friendly yet incredibly chic wardrobe, it’s supermodel Lisa Haydon Lalvani. The mother of two (soon to be three) has always been at the top of her game with her year-round supply of beach-ready swimsuits and cover-ups chronicled on her Instagram. And the looks haven't stopped pouring in since the third baby bump came into the picture. Over the past few months, she’s switched it up with all the current styles that tick off the season’s biggest trends—think jumpsuits, tiered summer dresses, cosy knit dresses and light layers in the form of trench coats. It is evident that curating a maternity wardrobe the third time around is something she has clearly mastered.

Truth be told, the model mum and surfer’s carefully curated edit of maternity outfits can also be adopted by those not nursing a bump. “I’ve mainly worn stuff that will work with and without a bump to ensure everything is usable long-term,” writes the model in an Instagram post, where she’s outfitted in a bottle-green ribbed midi dress by New York-based cult label Khaite.

Although during her previous pregnancy journey she lounged around and surfed the waves in bikinis and leotards, this time, she has upped the ante, giving us variety. Breaking away from her seawater uniforms, Haydon Lalvani styled a moss-green duster coat with combat boots and an all-black catsuit by Bumpsuit, a brand offering comfortable skin-hugging layers specialised for pregnant women. She also showed off her growing belly in a loose-fitted green boiler suit, two fits that look incredibly comfortable and are a seemingly welcome change from elastic waistbands. We’re taking notes.

Pulling off glam statement pieces may be her forte, but of late the model is favouring a super minimal look, devoid of accessories. Wearing a short black Cecilie Bahnsen dress, Haydon Lalvani lets its roomy silhouette take centre stage. A definite recommendation if you’re looking to add a high-end investment to your wardrobe. Alternatively, if you’re on a budget, Haydon Lalvani still has you covered as she flaunts a white tiered minidress from Zara that she accessorised with simple gold hoops. The look was kept effortless with a loosely knotted low bun and a nude face.

While she usually enjoys a statement piece with a sexy silhouette, the beach-loving mama’s style remains resolutely chic. She has made it her mission to impart style lessons that are essential for those looking to invest in elevated classics for their wardrobe. Take it as a reminder that maternity wear can exist beyond the tag, making nine months a very chic time. And building a wardrobe for the bump can go beyond maternity wear.
