The Pirates entered the series having scored four runs or fewer in seven of their last eight road games and each of their last seven overall, while the Nationals had scored two runs or fewer in seven of their last 10 games.
Both teams rank in MLB’s bottom five in home runs per game with the Pirates last. And with both teams in the top half in bullpen ERA, don’t expect these struggling offenses to break out Tuesday.
