Coronavirus News LIVE Updates | Single dose of COVID-19 vaccine sufficient for already infected people: Study

A single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is sufficient for an infected person as there was a greater antibody response when compared with those who have had no prior infection, according to a study released by AIG Hospitals yesterday. The city-based AIG Hospitals recently published a study conducted on 260 healthcare workers, who got vaccinated between January 16 and February 5, in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases (a peer-reviewed journal). The study was designed to assess the immunological memory response in all those patients. All patients were given the Covishield vaccine. (PTI)

Scientists advising the government had warned there could be a "significant resurgence" in people needing hospital treatment for COVID-19 if stage four of easing the lockdown went ahead on June 21. Telangana reported 1,511 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths yesterday, pushing the tally so far to 6,04,880 and 3,496 respectively. The number of recovered people outnumbered the fresh cases with 2,175 people recuperating from the infectious disease, taking the cumulative number of recoveries to 5,80,923. The number of active cases was 20,461, the bulletin said. (PTI)

Assam reported 43 more COVID-19 deaths and 3,678 new cases taking the caseload to 4,63,175 yesterday, the National Health Mission bulletin said. The death toll in the state increased to 3,994 while the number of active cases is currently is 39,362. The current death rate is 0.86 percent and the number of COVID-19 positive patients dying due to other causes is 1,347. The daily positivity rate is 2.52 percent while the cumulative tests conducted in the state so far are 1,27,57,993. (PTI)
