Covid patient booked for brewing arrack in Coimbatore

Covid patient in home isolation brews arrack.
COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore police have booked a Covid-19 patient, who is in home isolation, for brewing arrack. The man was distilling arrack at his rented house in Alandurai on Monday after watching videos on YouTube.
The police seized 10 litre of illicitly distilled arrack, 1,200 litre of ferment wash, 210 kg of sugar, a gas stove, two LPG cylinders, 90 empty bottles, two cookers, six barrels and some seeds from him.
The accused has been identified as Sampathkumar, 35, of Bouluvampatti. The man tested for Covid-19 on June 2 and had been in home isolation. Health department had covered the house with tin sheets.
Alandurai police inspector Baskaran and prohibition enforcement wing officials from Perur unit got a top-off and rushed to the house.
The police checked the house and found Sampathkumar preparing arrack. The police said he was brewing arrack to sell it to locals.
The police said they would arrest him after he recovers from Covid-19.
