Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation, a Japanese chemicals company, has reported 9 per cent sales decline to ¥3,257.5 billion (Japanese Yen) in its fiscal 2021 ended on March 31, 2021, compared to the sales of ¥3,580.5 billion in the previous fiscal. The company’s net income for the year slipped to ¥22.7 billion (FY20: ¥86.5 billion).
The company’s gross profit for FY21 dropped to ¥926.2 billion (¥987.2 billion), while operating income decreased to ¥47.5 billion (¥144.3 billion). Income before taxes was ¥32.9 billion (¥122.0 billion).
Sales of performance products for the reported year declined to ¥1,091.9 billion (¥1,181.5 billion) despite demand picking up from the second half and reflected lower sales volumes for automotive applications of high-performance engineering plastics and other offerings for advanced mouldings and composites. Moreover, sales of chemicals segment decreased to ¥905.9 billion (¥1,091.1 billion), and industrial gases segment sales came down to ¥818.2 billion (¥850.2 billion).
