If you want to clean up your T-shirt, Carolina said you should start by dabbing away the excess oil with a piece of kitchen towel.

Dab rather than rub, as this will avoid spreading the stain any further than it already is.

Once you've removed the excess oil, Carolina said you should apply some baking soda to the stain with a spoon or scoop.

Leave it for one hour so that it has a chance to absorb a bit, and then add one cup of water to a bowl.

Step one: Dab away the excess oil with some kitchen towel, taking care not to smear it further.

Step two: Apply baking soda to the stain with a spoon or scoop and leave it for one hour.

Step three: Add one cup of water to a bowl along with one cap of laundry detergent. Mix well.

Step four: Using an old clean toothbrush, apply the mixed mixture to your stain covered in baking soda gently.

Step five: Throw the garment into the washing machine and set it on a regular cycle.

Step six: The garment should come out as good as new.

'Mix in one cap of laundry detergent with your water and mix well,' Carolina said.

You can then use an old toothbrush to apply the mixture directly to the stain, while the baking soda is still on it.

Once all this is done, throw the garment into your washing machine and set it to your regular cycle.

'The results are perfect!' Carolina said.

More than 10,000 people who saw the simple video were impressed and said they have never been able to remove olive oil stains in the past.

'I needed this. Oil stains are my arch nemesis,' one commenter posted.

Another added: 'This is fantastic, thanks for sharing'.

Others shared their own solutions, including using washing up liquid, cornstarch and even just salt to get rid of stubborn stains.
