Gurgaon: In a relief for those planning to travel abroad before August 31 for work, studies or the Tokyo Olympics, a dedicated vaccination facility will be functional at the Sector 31 polyclinic from June 15 to administer the second dose of Covishield.
The site will be for the benefit of students who need to travel abroad for their education, those who need to take up jobs in foreign countries, and athletes and accompanying staff of the Indian contingent to the Tokyo Olympics.
People planning to go abroad can walk in carrying their passport and university or job confirmation documents at the separate counter set up for them at the polyclinic. Sports players need to carry their invitation to the Tokyo Olympic Games as proof to get the second dose. A total of 100 slots will be available daily for travellers.
At present, the centre is conducting walk-in vaccinations for people in the age group of 18-44 years.
“This facility is only for three categories of people going abroad — students, employees and sports participants. They can get their second dose of Covishield within a gap of minimum 28 days. This option is only available for these three categories, others will have to wait for 12 to 14 weeks to get the second dose of Covishield,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
Meanwhile, 12,269 people in the 18-44 age group got inoculated in the city on Monday. In the 45-plus category, 2,381 people took the shots. As many as 143 healthcare workers and 166 frontline workers were also vaccinated.
