Before getting detained, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal accused CM Amarinder Singh of corruption in the state government.
NEW DELHI: Punjab Police on Tuesday detained Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal outside chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh's residence in Siwan during a protest against the state government.
"There is a scam in Covid-19 vaccination, there is a scam in Fateh Kit, there is a scam in SC scholarship. Farmers' land is being acquired," said the SAD president before getting detained.
"If a storm rises, Captain will not be able to stop it, even if he uses all his force," said Badal, who has joined hands with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to oust the Amarinder Singh-led government ahead of 2022 assembly polls.
The SAD leaders and party workers had gathered to protest against the alleged corruption in the Congress state government.
The protest comes two days after the SAD announced a pre-poll alliance with the BSP ahead of 2022 assembly polls in Punjab.

On Saturday, Badal had alleged that if a survey is held today then CM Amarinder Singh will be voted as the most hated man in Punjab. "Not only us, but people and Congress MLAs are also against him," said Badal.
The SAD leader had asserted that in the upcoming 2022 Punjab assembly polls, CM Amarinder will lose his election deposit.
In a pre-poll alliance, the SAD joined hands with the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Announcing the tie-up on Saturday, Badal had said, "When we had an alliance in 1996, we had a clean sweep. It will happen this time too."
As per the seat-sharing arrangement, out of 117 seats in the Punjab assembly, BSP will contest on 20 seats and SAD will contest the remaining 97 seats.
BSP MP Satish Mishra had said that the SAD-BSP alliance "will work to end corruption and scams under Congress' leadership."
