Peru to connect 471 rural localities in Puno to fibre

Peru's transport and communications ministry (MTC) announced the launch of a plan to bring high-speed broadband services to around 225,000 residents in 471 rural localities in the Puno region. Under the digital divide plan financed by Peru's national telecommunications fund Pronatel, some 958 public institutions will be connected, including schools, health establishments and police stations thanks to the rollout of nearly 2,900 kilometres of fibre-optic cables starting next month.
