The Sirhind CIA staff in a joint operation with the Khamano police have nabbed two chain snatchers identified as Sukhwinder Singh and Lakhwinder Singh, both residents of Khamano, and recovered Rs 20,500 from them.

The Sirhind CIA staff in-charge, Gabbar Singh, said the duo was involved in four incidents of chain and earring snatchings in the district. The police arrested them on a tip-off, he added.

The CIA staff also arrested two peddlers identified as Rajinder Singh and Jaspreet Singh, both residents of Khamano, he added. Both were uncle and nephew and involved in the supply of drugs, he said. Earlier, too, they were booked for bringing drugs from other state in their truck, he added. The police got a tip-off that they were bringing poppy husk from out of state, he said. The police intercepted their truck and recovered 4 kg of poppy husk from the vehicle, he added.

Meanwhile, the Bassi Pathana police arrested two peddlers and recovered 400 buprenorphine injections and 40 bottles of syrup from them.
