BATHINDA: Former chief minister of Punjab
Parkash Singh Badal has urged the head of the special investigation team (SIT) to reschedule the date for his appearance in connection with the two FIRs in the
Kotkapura firing case.
Badal has cited health reasons behind his request stating that the doctors have advised him bed rest for 10 days.
SIT had on June 9 sent a summon to Badal asking him to appear before it in connection with the two FIRs filed on October 14, 2015 and August 7, 2018.
“As soon as my health gets better, I will be available to join the investigation as per law, at my current place of residence,” Badal stated in his letter to the SIT head.
“This SIT, unlike the previous one, would respect the law of the land and conduct a fair investigation, withstanding political interference from the ruling dispensation which had been brazenly subverting the law for petty political gains.” he wrote.
In his two-page response to the summons Badal said that “the entire process of investigations already stands brazenly compromised through blatant and unapologetic political interference and it reeks too strongly of political vendetta to inspire any confidence about a fair process of law being followed. In spite of this, he will fully cooperate with the investigative process."
