In view of the aggressive second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the theory exams for CBSE class 12 which were scheduled to begin on May 4, had to be postponed and ultimately cancelled.
The Centre had decided to cancel the CBSE class 12 board exams amid the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserting the decision was taken in the interest of students.
Following the cancellation of Class 12 exams, the CBSE has constituted a 13 member committee to decide on the criteria for the results.
The committee comprises Joint Secretary Education, Vipin Kumar, Commissioners of the Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalayas, and representatives from the CBSE, and UGC among other. It was informed on June 4 that the committee will have to submit its report in 10 days. However, the board has not released the evaluation criteria yet.
The Supreme Court on June 3 had asked the Centre to submit the objective criteria to assess Class XII students in two weeks.
The top court in its order had said: "What remains is only to devise well-defined objective criteria for assessment of the performance of the candidates, which decision will be taken by them within two weeks, as aforesaid. List the matter on June 17."
Now, as per the story by NDTV, the board will not release the criteria today. As per the report by Times Now News, the committee members have asked for two days extension which has been given to them. The final report will be submitted by the CBSE by June 16.
