Cybercriminals send links in the name of cashback, loan passing, job placement, and other tempting offers.
The state capital is reported with many cheating complaints in the name of cashback and cash rewards. The criminals are withdrawing lakhs of rupees from the account in just a second. In order to avoid such scams and aware the people, the police have issued an advisory for the people.
Also, an alert has been issued so that people can save themselves from falling prey to this type of cheating. Along with Bhopal cybercrime, there are frequent complaints of cheating in the name of cashback and cash reward in the police stations.
How this happens:
Firstly, cybercriminals call you. He then tells over the phone that cashback has been received or rewarded on your PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and other payment apps.
For this, the company is asked to send the QR code. Cybercriminals tell that on scanning this QR card, the amount will be sent to your account immediately.
After this, as soon as someone scans the QR code and enters the UPI PIN in it, then that amount is withdrawn from your linked bank account and you become a victim of fraud in the name of cashback.
Cybercrime police told that a UPI pin or password is never required to get any cashback. Therefore, use the PIN after reading the message carefully.
Police Advisory:
* No calls or calls are made by the company in the name of cashback, cash reward.
* UPI PIN is never used to receive money. UPI PIN is always used for sending money.
* No need to download any app or open a link to get cashback, cash rewards.
* Do not click or open links sent by an unknown person in the name of getting tempting offers or jobs.
* Do not install any unauthorized application to avail loan.
