Maharashtra: Doctor beaten after Covid patient’s death; held four

Latur: A doctor was allegedly attacked by four people after the father of their friend died while he was being treated coronavirus in a state hospital in the city of Maharashtra in Latur, police said Sunday.

The incident took place during the interval between Saturday and Sunday at the Vilasrao Deshmukh Institute of Medical Sciences.

Police Deputy Inspector Kiran Pathare said the four accused, identified as Shubham Dilip Nakade (25), Shriniwas Govindrao Dhobe (25), Akash Pramod Shete (20), Namdev Hanumant Shinde (29), were arrested.

‘The accused has used abusive language against dr. Amit Varma, 24, used to sneeze at him and said he did not treat their friend’s father properly, ‘he said, adding that the doctor did not suffer any serious injuries in the incident.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the doctor, a case was registered against the four accused at the Gandhi Chowk police station under IPC divisions 353 (assault or criminal power to dissuade civil servants from his service), 332 (which voluntarily injured), 504 (intentional insult), and arrested.
