This type of exercise increases the risk of heart attack: Study

Right from boosting your mood to increasing your cardiovascular health, exercising daily is said to have many health benefits. Along with your diet, the role of exercising in keeping your heart healthy is paramount. Exercising spikes your heart rate strengthens your cardiac muscles and helps to increase your lung capacity. But a recent study suggests that there is a particular kind of exercise that could even increase the risk of a heart attack.

Exercise that can lead to heart attack
In general, it is advised to engage in 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise daily to strengthen your heart muscles and lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases. However, a study published in Circulation revealed that high-intensity exercises and overexertion may increase the risk of developing an acute cardiac problem. It elaborates that extreme exercise training and competing in endurance events can put a person at the risk of developing heart-related complications and even lead to rhythm disorders.

Why overexertion can lead to heart attack

As per a study published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, extreme exercise may increase the risk for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) or sudden cardiac death (SCD). A study carried out on runners found that even after finishing extreme running events, their blood sample marker contains biomarkers linked with heart-related issues. These markers usually go on their own by themselves, but when a person engages in extreme physical activity, it may lead to remodelling of the heart and can lead to issues like thicker heart walls and scarring of the heart. Moreover, at the end of the study, it was clearly stated that high-intensity exercise can increase the risk for sudden cardiac arrest or sudden cardiac death in people already suffering from cardiac issues.

The alternative
There isn't any doubt that exercise and its health benefits. The problem is with a stern amount of activity. Every individual must perform 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise daily to reap its amazing health benefits. However, one must avoid challenging their physical strength and body. It is more crucial for all those people suffering from any genetic or cardiovascular disorder. If you are a beginner or are a pro do not overdo exercising. Besides, give your body enough time to recover and repair. If you feel any complications consult your doctor.
