Euro 2020, Christian Eriksen Health Update: Christian Eriksen’s former cardiologist ruled out every possibility of the player having prior heart issues during his time with Tottenham Hotspur. Eriksen suddenly collapsed during Denmark’s Euro 2020 clash against Finland on Saturday. Medical staff rushed to the ground and after performing CPR on the field, he was taken to the hospital.
Dr Sanjay Sharma of St. George’s University of London claimed the player had no prior adverse heart condition but felt something was missed during his medical tests.
“Clearly something went terribly wrong. But they managed to get him back, the question is what happened? And why did it happen? This guy had normal tests all the way up to 2019 so how do you explain this cardiac arrest?” he told the Daily Mail on Sunday.
Christian Eriksen Health Update: Sharma who is also a part of the England FA’s cardiac group raised doubts about whether the player would be able to return to the pitch.
“His cardiac arrest has rocked the entire nation today and that’s what happens. It’s not just them that it affects, it’s the psyche of so many people.
“The good news is he will live, the bad news is he was coming to the end of his career, so would he play another professional football game? That I can’t say.
“In the UK he wouldn’t play. We’d be very strict about it.”
Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen revealed what exactly happened with Eriksen as the world awaited his revival. “He was breathing, and I could feel his pulse. But suddenly that changed.
“And as everyone saw, we started giving him CPR.”
“The help came really, really fast from the medical team and the rest of the staff, and with their cooperation, we did what we had to do. We managed to get Christian back.”
