ICC WTC Finals – Virat Kohli vs Ajinkya Rahane’s Teams: The 4-day practice match is the main preparation for Kohli’s men who haven’t played any cricket for the last one month after the IPL 2021 was suspended on May 4.

The 4-day intra-squad match is a closed-door affair. It comes just two days after Team India began practice in Southampton.
It will also give the team a much-needed competitive feel before all the important ICC WTC Final against Williamson & Co who currently are busy playing in a Test series against the hosts England.
It is obvious that with two tests under the belt, Kiwis will be completely acclimatized to the English conditions. This is the reason the team management decided to play the INTRA-SQUAD game to simulate the match conditions.
According to the information available, the complete 25 member squad is getting a opportunity to play in the match.
ICC WTC Final – Few Questions in front of Team management as they get ready for World Test Championship finals
Team management via this game is giving an opportunity to every player to get acclimatize to the English conditions where the ball swings and moves the most. Also, it is the last opportunity for the team captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri to decide on the team composition for the finals against New Zealand.
The team management at this stage is grappling with the following questions in regard to selecting playing XI for the WTC Finals –
– Bowling Composition: Will it be prudent to play 4 fast bowlers or to go with 2 spinners and 3 pacers composition against Kiwis?
– Who should be 3rd Pacer: If India decides to play 3 pacers – Jasprit Bumrah & Mohammed Shami are certainties, but the 3rd pacer team will have to choose between Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Siraj & Shardul Thakur
– Opening Pair: Who will partner Rohit Sharma. The team is in two minds whether to give the opportunity to Shubman Gill or to bring in Mayank Agarwal?
The 4-day practice game may help the team management to some extent to get the right playing XI for the ICC WTC Finals
