GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna Organized a 7 Days’ National Faculty Development Program

 

Chandigarh: The IQAC Cell of GGDSD College, Kheri Gurna organized a 7 Days’ National Faculty  Development Programme on the theme of “Improving the Teaching and Research Acumen” from 7 th to 13 th June 2021. A total number of 100 faculty members from more than 14 different states across the country participated and successfully completed it.

The valedictory session of the FDP took place on 13 th June 2021. It was joined by honorable Sh. Upkar Krishan Sharma Ji, President, GGDSD College Society. The Chief Guest for the valedictory session was Prof. Dr. G.S. Batra, Dean Research Branch, Punjabi University, Patiala. The Guest of Honour was Dr. S.C. Vaidya, General Secretary, GGDSD College Society, Chandigarh. Other dignitaries and members of the Governing Body were also a part of the program.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rama Arora in her welcome address extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and highlighted the mission and vision of 7 days long program. She thanked the entire management and Chairman, Governing body of GGDSD College Kheri Gurna, Maj Gen A.K. Shori for their constant support. She also lauded the efforts of Dr. Meenakshi Negi, Coordinator IQAC Cell and her team for organizing this event and making it a grand success.

The seven days’ long event consisted of 18 technical sessions deliberating on topics ranging from the use of ICT in online teaching to stress management in day-to-day life; to the importance of Professional Ethics and improving Research Acumen. The participants of this course were fortunate enough to learn innovative teaching and research techniques and strategies from extremely learned resource persons.

In the Valedictory Address, Dr. Batra talked about the importance of the latest technological skills for faculty members, especially in Online Teaching. Dr. Vaidya encouraged all to move towards the direction of designing and developing MOOC Courses and master themselves in the use of the latest technological tools. He also emphasized that there is a huge need for organizing such events on a regular basis as such kinds of training programs are very essential for the professional development of the faculty members.

A detailed report of the program was read by Dr. Meenakshi Negi. The participants also shared their learning experiences and presented their valuable feedback about the program. A vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Maninder Kaur, Co-Convenor of the FDP, in which she felicitated the Management, Principal, and Staff on the successful completion of 7 days’ FDP.
