Mumbai: Teen who flashed private parts in virtual classroom traced in Rajasthan

The Saki Naka Police have booked a 15-year-old boy from Rajasthan for allegedly flashing his private parts during an ongoing virtual class. The accused teen, allegedly hacked into the virtual class and flashed himself on multiple occasions in the month of February, after which a teacher took the screenshots and approached police. The teen was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.

According to police, the complainant approached Saki Naka Police and lodged a complaint on March 30, claiming that between February 15 and March 2, a boy was flashing his private parts during a coding lecture in a virtual classroom on multiple occasions. The female teachers in the virtual classroom were embarrassed and uncomfortable with the act, following which a teacher took a screenshot of the act and approached the police.

During the investigation, police learnt that the number and Internet Protocol (IP) address used to log in to the virtual classroom was traced to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Based on this technical evidence, a team from Saki Naka Police was sent to Rajasthan on June 3. Even after reaching there, it was a challenge to trace the accused as there was little to no leads, except for the background caught in the screenshot. The teen was, however, tracked, who was staying with his mother. When enquired about the offence, the teen claimed he did it 'just like that' and had also used fake email address and nobody numbers to log in to the virtual classroom.

While police seized the teen's laptop and mobile phone used in the crime, he was produced before a juvenile court, which sent him in a children's home until the probe is underway. Sources claimed that the teen had also done some research and drawn notes to hack into the virtual classes from a local internet search engine.
